The .hu Registry (domain.hu) – ISZT Nonprofit Ltd.

The Internet Service Providers Council (ISZT) is one of the most influential professional associations in the ICT industry. Its responsibilities include regulating, supervising, and managing public domains under the .hu country code top-level domain.

The association represents 55 internet service providers, ranging from small operators to large corporations, thus covering the broadest possible spectrum of stakeholders. Since its foundation in 1997, ISZT has carried out self-regulatory and advocacy activities.

According to the ISZT Association’s Domain Registration Policy, it ensures the unified and efficient management of the registration, delegation, and maintenance of .hu public domains. To perform these tasks, the association has mandated its wholly owned subsidiary, ISZT Nonprofit Ltd., with domain registration and management. ISZT Nonprofit Ltd. enters into franchise agreements with registrars, who thereby gain the right to contract with domain applicants.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of the annual data update?

Its purpose is to ensure that the data in the domain register is accurate and up to date. As the .hu domain registry, we are legally obliged to carry this out.

What should I do if my data in the email is correct?

If the data is accurate and up to date, no further action is required.

Where can I update my data if it is incorrect?

The annual data update email specifies your domain registrar or registration partner.
You can only update your registered data through your registrar or registration partner. The registry (ISZT Nonprofit Ltd.) does not perform direct data updates.

What happens if I do not update my data?

If your data is incorrect or not credible, your domain name may be removed from the zone according to Section 6.1.e of the Domain Registration Policy. As a result, the related website and email addresses may stop functioning.

If your data is not up to date, please contact your registrar or registration partner immediately to update it. Failure to do so may result in loss of the domain name, especially if ISZT Nonprofit Ltd. cannot contact you during an authority or complaint-handling procedure.

What does it mean that my domain “may be removed from the zone”?

It means that if the domain’s associated data is not updated and no annual data update takes place, the operation of the domain may be suspended. In that case:

  • the website will not be accessible,
  • email addresses will stop working.
Will I be asked for payment or banking details?

No! ISZT Nonprofit Ltd. never asks for banking details or payment in connection with the annual data update. If you receive such a request, it is likely a phishing attempt. Please do not provide any data!
